The LeBronmeter is dedicated to whether LeBron James will stay in Cleveland after the 2009-10 NBA season. Started in 2006, The LeBronmeter is the foremost source of "LeBronformation." We were the only media source to predict he would re-sign with the Cavaliers for a three year extension. Our staff has top inside sources throughout Cleveland, Akron, New York and people that travel with the team.

LEBRON: A HISTORY OF KEEPING EVERYONE GUESSING

James has stated that he wants to become the first athlete to become a billionaire. Keeping his name in the news is a great revenue producer because of the international exposure. The ultimate advertising this year is “whether LeBron stays or goes.”

THE FORMULA THAT DETERMINES WHAT HE DOES

40% - Where Can LeBron Win Championships? This will be a combination of: how the Cavaliers are doing, injuries, teammate development, NBA / team salary cap movement, and league wide transactions. There is a fine line in the future. Any team LeBron would go to automatically becomes of that Conference’s three best teams.

40% - Where Can LeBron Maximize His Earnings? Don’t make too much of him taking a “max” contract. Our sources tell us that any future contract he signs will have a player option to leave after four years. His marketing value definitely goes up playing in New York, but he can, and has, made significant money playing in Cleveland.

20% - The “Twelve Month Issues”- Although Dan Gilbert has done everything possible to make James happy, he cannot control the Cleveland fans who are “on the brink” because of not winning any major sports championships since 1964.  We feel there is a great chance that the mood inside the Q will change when a few hundred fans, disgruntled he hasn’t renewed his contract, boo him at some point. The media then will make it out to be half the crowd and a year long drama will have been created. Also, the members of LeBron’s inner circle, LRMR, that forms his marketing & management team, will have a large influence over his mind set.
